EXERCISE 2: INDIVIDUAL IDEATION (Nur Zarith Sofea 0139279)
Individual reflection
My theme “Once Upon A Tail” is inspired by a fairytale, specifically the combination of the classic storytelling phrase “Once upon a time” and tail to represent a variety of animals, relating to my NGO’s concept that supports animal adoption and welfare. This combination aims to highlights that every animal has a story and each of them deserves a happy ending, reinforcing the NGO’s message.
At first, it was quite difficult to decide on a theme that somehow aligned with my NGO’s message, it wasn’t because I had limited options, it was because there were too many that I couldn’t choose. Even with all the options, it still felt like it was either unoriginal or lacked a strong storyline. However, I kept researching, exploring more themes and focusing on emotional appeal while experimenting a few wordplays aiming to make it recognizable and familiar yet unique to attract customers.
As I worked on my products, one of the challenges faced was making sure that the products, concept and sketches are connected thematically. To solve this, I tied them together by making the names, packaging and free gift all on theme. Other than that, I struggled with keeping the products cost range within the budget given. My solution was finding a recipe that contained only the essential ingredients. Another thing was deciding on the packaging size that would be both affordable while still having a suitable serving amount for my specific target market, but I solved this problem by researching online suppliers, comparing them and choosing the most suitable and cost-effective option I could find.
